Is your Third Eye Blind

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

In the west we talk about the third eye as a thing of mysticism. We use words like clairvoyant and an activated pineal gland to describe what we call greater intuition.

As I plan some work in the final days leading up to a workshop Christine La Fontaine and I are doing, called the Feminine Fire of Creation – Woman’s Workshop, which you might have read about in my last post , I am contemplating what the third eye really is about.

We have become so attached to certain trendy ideas around the third eye that getting to the root of what the energy of the third eye is really all about is challenging many of my preconceived notions.

A word that stood out to me during my research was detachment. One of my favorite teachers of the chakra system is Carolyn Myss. I’ve been lugging around her book, ‘The Anatomy of the Spirit” for a good 16 years now. I’ve also taken a few classes on the chakra system over the years from various teachers in Montreal, learning how this way of looking at human spiritual development can improve our quality of life. It seems as though I missed this one understanding that I am now rejoicing in recognizing. This understanding is why higher intuition is available to anyone.

Through this understanding, the energy of the third eye, on a very basic level encompasses our ego activity, mind and greater consciousness. It is the culmination of lower energies, those being the tribal energy of our belief system, the energy of knowing who we are, as a unique expression, that which either creates or takes away from how confidently we feel in our ability to stand our ground in the world.

This energetic development includes the lessons around our capacity to love others and ourselves with our ability to meaningfully express ourselves into the world with truth and integrity. All of this is what feeds our minds with the ideas and judgments about how we should live. It tells us what we should be weary of, how much we should fear certain events, people, places and our own actions. It also tells us what we should be happy about, excited, thrilled and exhilarated by.

It is like an internal energy circuit that doesn’t stop running unless its fed new variables from outside sources. This is where the saying, thinking outside the box comes into play. This is where our ability to detach from our minds and egos allows us to step outside out of our default, energetic patterns within, to see our situations and ourselves from a completely foreign perspective. In this way of looking at things, we begin to tap into our greater intuition.

Our intuition is our ability to feel that something is off or out of alignment with what we are energetically broadcasting out and what I believe, we are predestined to do. We don’t always have the wisdom to know exactly what the outcome will be but we can see and feel enough from the perspective of detachment to know something is not a perfect match to that which is already in motion from deep within us and beyond our patterning, from our soul’s calling.

When we are in a mode of detachment, we can view our situation from a larger perspective but we can also begin to see symbolically. It is through symbolic awareness, a greater consciousness, a consciousness ultimately connected to everything that bestows us with insights and visions that we have no rational understanding of. It is this wisdom that allows us to connect the dots to seemingly irrelevant information within our environment.

We begin to reflect beyond the juxtapositions of conscious landscapes, the feed back loop going 24/7 within and the grander scheme of things expressed from the universe showing up as symbolic sight. Symbolic sight can be achieved with complete and utter detachment to all that we think we know, allowing a new language of understanding that is a universal language to step in.

The genuine intuitive knowing of, I just know I will be living in Australia one day, months before you receive a job offer in Australia, is not based on what our life experience tells us so much as our ability to detach from our life experience and conditioning to see the greater patterns inherent in the world around us, those which we are so intricately connected to.

To activate this energy center you can spend time looking at why you are doing the things you do. Why you have certain fears and what it is that keeps your internal energy circuit into motion. Giving ourselves the opportunities to self reflect ignites the power of the third eye to begin to take effect in our lives and increase our capacity to see outside of ourselves.

If we are someone to take things personally, be reactive to people and places, ruled by fear or are simply always caught up in the way we personally view the world, from our own limited understanding, it will be impossible to connect into something greater than our own conditioning to receive the gifts of visions and intuitions.

Allowing time to sit quietly and meditate are good ways to activate the third eye into growth and healthy functioning. They can help to calm the nervous system enough to allow us to transcend the human conditioning of our life’s experiences. The way our body is held reflects the way we’ve been molded into thinking and perceiving.

Relaxing our bodies relaxes our minds. This, in tandem with doing the inner introspective work, allows us to acknowledge personal illusion and open up the door to a larger perspective that encompass all perspectives of every possibility, leading to the clairvoyant universal sight we so readily call Third Eye.

May you all find the beauty, freedom and solace that lie within the blissful energy of the third eye!
